# **Access control** for sports facilities Open your facilities with nobody on the door. Nobody has to add or remove anything. ### The phone is the key Members carry their code with them. That is what makes an unstaffed outdoor court viable. ## Why the door opens for somebody 1. Because they have a booking on that court at that hour. 2. Because they are a member and their membership allows entry on that day and at that hour. 3. Because they are enrolled on a course that runs there. 4. Because they hold a pass with uses left, and one comes off as they walk through. 5. If none of those holds, they do not get in, and the attempt and the reason are recorded. ## Collecting stops meaning chasing ### Anyone who owes, does not get in An overdue fee blocks entry and the member finds out at the door. It is the most effective collection lever a center has. ### With whatever grace period you choose The block can wait a few days, so you do not shut out somebody whose debit bounced because of a bank error. ### And two people cannot share one credential The system stops a second entry without an exit in between, which is how a card actually gets lent. ## Answering «who came in on Saturday?» ### Every pass is recorded Who, on which credential, in which direction, at what time, and if they were refused, why. It is the question a council has to be able to answer. ### How many people are inside, right now The count goes up and down with entries and exits, against whatever capacity you declared. No counting by eye. ### How many members actually use their membership The access report tells who pays from who pays and also turns up. It is the number you set prices and hours from. ## On screen: The occupancy of every space, live - The count is real: it goes up with every entry and down with every exit. - When a space gets near its limit, you see it before there is a problem. - It resets itself overnight, so somebody who did not scan out does not keep counting forever. ## It stands up to what actually happens ### It keeps opening without internet The turnstiles hold the day's permissions, so a line failure does not leave your members standing at the door. ### You check it before installing it The simulator says whether a credential would get in on a specific day and time, without waiting for it to fail with a member watching. ### The lights come on by themselves On outdoor courts they light up because there is a booking, with margins before and after. Booking, membership and course entry keep working offline. - Occupancy counts entries minus exits, so it depends on exits being recorded. Anyone who does not scan out keeps counting until the overnight reset. - There is no facial recognition. Identification is by credential: code, card, wristband, ticket or fingerprint. ## Frequently asked questions ### Do permissions have to be granted by hand every time somebody books? No. On creating the booking the system generates the turnstile permission, with the exact hour and the day bounded, and it stops being valid when the booking ends. There is no access list to maintain and no credentials to revoke. ### What happens if the center loses its internet connection? Turnstiles built for it keep opening on the day's permissions they hold locally. The only exception is pass-based entry, because the system has to check right then how many uses are left. ### Can access control help me collect money? It is its most useful side effect. Any overdue unpaid fee blocks entry, so the member finds out at the door and settles it. You can allow a few days' grace so you do not shut out somebody with a bank problem. ### Can I find out who came in on a specific day? Yes. Every pass, allowed or refused, is recorded with the credential used, the person, the direction of travel, the time and the reason for refusal if there was one. And there is a report that aggregates it by month. ### How does somebody arriving with companions get in? The booking can issue a code for each occupant, without any of them having to register. It is the usual case when whoever books arrives with people who are not members. ### How is a swimming pool's capacity controlled? By grouping the entry and exit turnstiles into a space with its maximum capacity. The system subtracts exits from entries and shows the count live. That is why it matters that exits get recorded. ### What readers do I need?
